District Enforcement Branch (DEB), Jhargram Police District consist of 01 Inspector of Police, 01 ASI of Police and 02 NVFs. The Dy. Suptd. of Police (D&T) Jhargram Police District looks after the work of Dy.SP (DEB) Jhargram. DEB Jhargram Police District, does cases under Essential Commodities Act, 1955 following violation of Control Orders. It also investigates cases under Copy Right Act, 1957, Trade Marks Act,1999, Wild Life Protection Act, 1972 etc.
Further, it investigates Cheating, Forgery and cases of Economics offences. Pollution related matters are also dealt by DEB. It liaises with Food and Supplies Department and enforces cases relating to Public Distribution System. Food safety matters are also dealt by this unit. Recently Jhargram PS case No. 100/16 dt.20/07/16 u/s 270/273/34 IPC was lodged by DEB Jhargram against two persons for using unpermitted noxious ripening chemical in bananas. The case was ended in Charge Sheet and awaiting trial.
